Our family is facing an urgent challenge, and your support can make a life-changing difference. My mother, Carolyn Thomas, has devoted decades to education, social work, and helping others. After more than 20 years in the Army, I’m doing my best to care for her and our family, but we now need help to ensure her home is safe, comfortable, and accessible.

Our Story

Carolyn is a lifelong learner, artist, and advocate. She has two master’s degrees (Christian Education and Social Work from the University of Chicago) and an undergraduate degree in education. She spent years as an educator, championing smaller class sizes and updated materials. She’s also a devoted mother and grandmother who has always put family first, often at great personal cost. She’s been a steady caregiver for our family, including helping care for my son and stepping in as our primary caregiver for many years.

The Challenge

Carolyn recently faced a medical and aging-related crisis requiring immediate care and daily support.

She has developed a bedsore and isn’t receiving regular physical therapy, showers, or daily assistance due to current constraints.

The bill for her two-month stay is $28,000, which we cannot cover in full right now.

We also want to make our home ADA compliant so she can age in place with independence and dignity.

What We Plan to Fund

ADA accessibility upgrades (ramps, bathroom modifications, doorway widening, grab bars, etc.)

In-home medical equipment and ongoing care services

Any remaining portion of the recent medical stay to ensure continuity of care

Ongoing therapies and daily living support to help her heal and thrive at home
