Hi, my name is Elif. I'm fundraising for Angelina Rubis, my best friend and sister by heart.

Unfortunately, on March 10, 2022, Angelina passed away at twenty-four years old. Angelina is, and will always be, the most passionate, resilient, and loving person I've ever met. Her love for film, art, music and creative storytelling made me, and the people around her, appreciate the small things in life- and learn to appreciate that everyone, including herself, had a great story to tell. She made incredible feats to continue pursuing her dreams. She made incredible feats to leave her story with the world through her cooking, hugs, creative film, music, and presence. It is now up to me, and the people that love her, to continue telling her story.

One of the things she loved the most in this world was her sister, who is currently in elementary school, and her grandmother, both of whom currently live in Kazakhstan. During many late-night conversations we had together, and most recently before she passed, I promised to do my best to care for her sister, and support her higher education to the best of my ability if anything were to happen to her. I intend to follow through with this promise and have set up a 529 account for her sister to utilize at will.

This first fundraiser goal is intended to support these three things:

1) Financially support Angelina's family and friends back home to organize a memorial and allow her grandmother to travel into the city

2) Support Angelina's funeral services in the US

3) The remaining funds will go to Angelina's sister's 529 account (college investment plan). I will extend the fundraising goal once the first two items are funded, as her sister's education will be an ongoing target for the next several years.
