Join Martin fight against brain cancer

Martin Hernandez is an 16-year-old boy who has been diagnosed with a rare and aggressive from of brain cancer: Glioblastoma Multiforme. He is a phenomenal well-rounded athlete playing sports such as soccer, cross country all the way to golf. He is always wanting to try something challenging and new. He was accepted for a full ride to James Madison University since eighth grade due to his high academic performance in school. He loves math and wants to pursue a career in Engineering. Martin loves to spend time with his family and friends. He also likes to play video games, like any other teenager. He is wise, intelligent, loving and with a great sense of humor. 

 It all started with frequent headaches. He started his treatment at UVA Children's Hospital in Charlottesville, VA. He received radiation and chemotherapy. He also had to undergo 2 brain surgeries to remove the tumors in less than a year and half. They consulted with multiple doctors at UVA, who unfortunately informed them that this was an incredible difficult cancer to treat and overcome. Martin and his parent's decided to consult other doctors in the country, and decided to try a different treatment in Washington state. He is currently receiving Immunotherapy treatment, at Seattle Children's Hospital, in hopes this can defeat his cancer. Therefore, the intentions with this GoFundMe are towards:
1) To pay for the cost of Martin's treatment, and enable him to keep fighting
2) To give him the most joyful and peaceful quality of life in his time left on Earth

Martin will be receiving his last treatment session with Immunotherapy treatment on Tuesday, 9/15/2020. Unfortunately, once again, they received bad news that the treatment is not defeating the brain cancer. He is currently back in the hospital to go another brain surgery to remove the brain tumor that has returned for the 3rd time. 

Please keep Martin, his family and his medical team in your daily prayers, intentions, and thoughts. It is the greatest help you can give them. With your help they will continue to have faith, hope, stay positive, and help Martin fight to over come this disease. The doctors explained that Glioblastoma Multiforme is not curable; however, they have also acknowledged they've witnessed miracles beyond medical explanation. We hope that your continue prayers and Martin will bring about a miracle.

Martín Hernández es un niño de 16 años que ha sido diagnosticado con un cáncer cerebral raro y agresivo: el glioblastoma multiforme. Él es un atleta fenomenal que practica deportes como el fútbol, atletismo, y golf. Siempre está deseando probar algo nuevo y desafiante. Debido a su alto rendimiento académico en la escuela, en octavo grado, recibió una beca que cubre todos los gastos para la Universidad James Madison. Le encantan las matemáticas y quiere tener una carrera en ingeniería. A Martin le encanta pasar tiempo con su familia y amigos. También le gusta jugar a los videojuegos, como a cualquier otro adolescente. Es maduro para sus corta edad, inteligente, cariñoso y con un gran sentido del humor.

Todo empezó con frecuentes dolores de cabeza. Comenzó su tratamiento en UVA Children's Hospital en Charlottesville, VA. Recibió radiación y quimioterapia. También tuvo que someterse a 2 cirugías cerebrales para extirpar los tumores en menos de un año y medio. Consultaron con varios médicos en UVA, quienes desafortunadamente les informaron que se trataba de un cáncer increíblemente difícil de tratar y superar. Martin y sus padres decidieron consultar a otros médicos del país y decidieron probar un tratamiento diferente en el estado de Washington. Actualmente está recibiendo tratamiento de inmunoterapia en Seattle Children's Hospital, con la esperanza de que pueda vencer su cáncer. Por lo tanto, las intenciones con este GoFundMe son:
1) Pagar el costo del tratamiento de Martin y permitirle seguir luchando.
2) Para darle una calidad de vida más alegre y pacífica para el tiempo que le quede con nosotros.

Martin recibirá su última sesión con el tratamiento de inmunoterapia el martes 15/9/2020. Desafortunadamente, una vez más, recibieron malas noticias de que el tratamiento no está venciendo el cáncer cerebral. Actualmente está de regreso en el hospital para someterse a otra cirugía para extirpar el tumor cerebral que ha regresado por tercera vez.

Por favor de mantener a Martin, su familia y su equipo médico en sus oraciones, intenciones y pensamientos diarios. Esa es la mayor ayuda que pueden brindarles. Con su ayuda, ellos continuarán teniendo fe, esperanza, se mantendrán positivos y ayudarán a Martin a luchar para superar esta enfermedad. Los médicos les explicaron que el glioblastoma multiforme no es curable; sin embargo, también han reconocido que han sido testigos de milagros más allá de la explicación médica.
