Help Angela Fight Breast Cancer
Donation protected
In August, one of my best friends was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 27. She's currently halfway through chemo treatments, which will be followed by months of radiation, and then 10 years of hormone therapy. Costs are really starting to add up, especially since her medical insurance is no longer covered by work as she's been on short term disability for 60 days. Below is a snapshot of events and costs:
Oct. 2: Bilateral mastectomy (both breast removes)
Oct. 23: Reconstruction surgery.
Oct 25: 2 stomach injections/day for egg stimulation.
ct 28: Blood tests & ultrasounds every other day.
Nov. 5: Stomach injections upped to 3/day.
Nov. 7: Egg retrieval day. Chemo has the possibility to send Angela into menopause by 30.
Nov 15: Round 1 of chemo & DigniCap. The cap should help freeze hair follicles to prevent hair loss. Angela had an allergic reaction to chemo just minutes into the injections
Dec 6: Round 2 of chemo.. nearly immediate reaction again.
Dec. 6: Very emotional Friday night. The DigniCap didn't work for her, so she needed to shave her head.
Dec 10: Round 2 of chemo, take two!
It's beyond my comprehension how expensive cancer has been for the portion she even had medical insurance covered by her employer!!
$3,200 - Egg Retrieval surgery
$250 - Yearly egg storage fee
$1,950 - medical expense to keep same insurance.
$1,000 - (minimum) for a human hair wig (what?!?!)
*I have this set at $10,00.00 to help cover the costs above along with co-pays (she's been to nearly 30 appointments and has many more to come). Due to 60 days of short term disability, she experiencing income cut as well.
I've linked her Caring Bridge site for all who to stay up-to-date on her journey and have the link her: https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/angelanguyen
Thank you so much in advance!!!
