Greetings to all whose eyes land here. My name is Leta, and I'm organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my best friend, Quiana. She's a single mother to an almost teen daughter and has now lost her mother suddenly, after a very brief hospital stay.

She's a federal employee, so she's run through her savings already, spending money going to and from the hospital with absolutely no money coming in and no idea of when this shutdown will end. She is in dire need of funds to cover both her mother's homecoming/repass (she'll be cremated), and the loss of salary and savings due to this tragedy as well as the government shutdown, especially as we live in very expensive NYC.
