Hi all.. my name is Rebecca. I’m trying to raise living expenses for a friend of mine in need . On May 04,2024.. Angela was brutally assaulted downtown by a nearby church. The assault concurred many injuries. As a result of injuries she cannot work her job as a haul truck driver at this time.

She returned to Fort McMurray in January, living here almost 43 years. With a series of traumatic events. Accidents , fires, was starting to regain some financial freedom. Her work hours are not enough to be eligible for EI - work only offers long term disability after 26 weeks. So this will leave her without income source for almost 3 months. We all know the cost of living in Fort McMurray.

Her injuries have included fractured ankle, broken toes, rib impact, nerve damage to upper cheek and lip , jaw misplacement. Countless bruises, concussion. Eye damage .

Angela as helped many people in Fort McMurray from the homeless to soup kitchens, purse projects, volunteers whenever needed . She is very active in our recovery community - very vocal about her own recovery - more than 2 years sober . And always trying to spread a message of experience, strength and hope. Anyone that knows her, would know just how giving she is . She lives alone with 2 dogs and 2 cats . Financially If funds are not raised , she will face eviction herself . Sources for victims of crimes will take weeks to apply , Alberta Works- because her income threshold for April was high disqualifies her for income support. Many obstacles but I know God, family and friends are with her. Her recovery journey will be long, trauma counselling and physical healing.
