Hi My name is Troy Chaffee an My Wife Angela has been diagnosed with Stage 5 Kidney Failure, and is on the toughest road to getting a new Kidney, via Kidney Transplant.
For the past couple months now Angie has gone through numerous obstacles between having to do a weightloss surgery (Gastric Sleeve) to lose the required weight to get onto the transplant list. She's also on Dyalsis due to her Kidneys shutting down.
Recently, a month an a half ago Angie went in for surgery an was denied to a high Potassium level that postponed her surgery for a week. That following Friday Angie was very excited to hear that "Surgery is a go!" But knowing there would be complications possibly afterwards was an has been a headache for not only her but her family as well. After surgery while in recovery, which was supposed to be an over night stay turned into a twelve day nightmare for her when she found out that she had an infection due to the surgeon scraping her pancreas. She was told by the hospital that she would be given a 10 day supply of antibiotics but was given 3 days worth an then discharged without Antibiotics. Doctors had explained that she was good an there was no infection
That Following week Angie had developed a fever ranging from 102° to 104° when arriving at the ER. After numerous hours in the ER it had come to the conclusion that Angie had yet an infection, that same one that the doctors had told her was gone. Resulting in yet another week of test labs an other things in the hospital to see what an why she had an infection. She had yet more bad news when told she had two different bacteria growing in her, so now she's taking the double amounts of antibiotics.
So after going 3.5 days without food, because she was being scheduled to receive a PICC Line which means she will not be able to eat actual food for about a month an half to two months for her pancreas to heal. She now gets her nutrition from an IV bag.
Now today Angie besides her health she's also been struggling with those responsibilities an hardships outside the hospital. Her Husband Troy Chaffee (Me) have been there by her side everyday since the first day she went in an on top of that came spending countless amounts of money to get to an from the hospitals, to her appointments, Dyalsis appointments resulting in wear and tear on the vehicle, Gas prices and falling behind on bills like (House, Gas, Power, Water etc) While Troy is employed he has missed a few days of work as well as been donating plasma to make ends meet but thats just not enough.
Your Donations and help just know that it will not go unseen. It will go to helping Angie an her family get through this rough patch in thier lives an most of all it will make her have a peace of mind that everything will be okay, as she spends the next couple of months healing an get ready for her next step in a New Kidney! Journey.
***** Update on Angie Journey ******
As of September 6th 2022 Angie has undergone four procedures where she received 3 drainage hoses an just finished a 4th one today, they had performed a flush an also installed a bigger drain hose so that they can continue to flush out the extra thats continuing to flow out. She's had pockets of infections building up.
The doctor told me her surgery went well but she is still feeling a lil discomfort in the abdominal area but thats normal. She's been on a long road here at the hospital but hopefully a few more weeks an she'll be able to start on the track to returning to her self an start living a life outside of the hospital.
Thank you! To those who continue to show their support for Angie while she's on this long journey.Thank you to your Donations Angie has been able to focus on getting better an working on going home to her family.
Update: 10/11/2022 **********
So Angie was recently transferred to IMCU where she's been fighting to keep her platelets an her blood pressure at a stable level. She's been in IMCU before there she spent the past 3.5 weeks in ICU where she had numerous issues from Oxygen issues, a nose bleed that lasted 2 weeks due to her platelet levels where we found out they were at 1,500-2,000 when the average human has about 400,000 to 500,000. They were afraid for her because with low levels of platelets that nose bleeding and an oxygen issue there was a slim chance of her being put on a ventilator that scared us all. It's been a long tough month of sleepless nights worried about Angie an Praying that we'd be close to a possible discharge.
While being in the ICU Angie also underwent surgery of yet another drainage line which made the count to Number 7.
We are continuing to figure out what exactly is going on with Angie's health an will keep updating this so please stay tuned an again to those whom have donated. With your Donations we have had not to worry about bills, Gas expenses, and just focusing on getting Angie one step closer to getting home. Thank you! We are still in need of help so please if you can not donate please share.
Update: November 5th 2022.
The last month has been alot since then Angie has moved from numerous floors and towers from the hospital an also had received drain number 10. On the 4th of November she was discharged from the hospital via hospital decision when her an the ID (infectious Diesese) doctor suggest she stays a few more days when starting a new medication an well the director of the hospital an the hospital specialist seen a different thing. Discharged her only to have her end up in the ER the next morning. After a night at home vomitting an nausea without medication to help, She's been fighting everyday to stay positive and just try to go home an enjoy life.
Since then your Donations have helped the first couple of months of her being in an we could still use some help. I (Troy Angie's husband) had to quit my job to provide help an care for Angie since I couldn't trust the hospital to do so. So im looking for a Job to return to work as well as trying to find other ways of making ends meet. But we could really use a helping hand in this and next month or so.
