Angela Bucci—known lovingly as Ang, Angela, or just Bucci—was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer in 2013. She’s not only a devoted mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, but also an Endocrinologist who continued to care for her patients throughout her treatments. Imagine being a doctor, living with cancer, and still showing up for others every day. That’s Angela.
Over the past year, Ang has been in and out of the Immediate Care Center (ICC) and The James Cancer Hospital due to various complications and dangerously low magnesium levels. Her diet is restricted to liquids, with occasional rice and eggs—but even that causes nausea and vomiting, which exasperates her anxiety. She had a nephostromy (tube placed from back directly into kidney) and affectionately named her bag “Olive.” Angela continues to suffer from painful UTIs, takes nearly 25 pills/day, but neuropathy has made it nearly impossible for her to feel her fingers to load her pill case. You can probably hear her foul mouth right now!!
The cancer attacked her colon and after undergoing a dissection along with the state of her frail body, Ang is no longer a candidate for future surgeries. She hasn’t had chemo since April 2025, and the compounding issues continue to take a devastating toll. Lately, she has been extremely fatigued, short of breath, and struggling with low iron levels. Even with all of that, Bucci will ask “ Do you need anything?” OR provide sarcasm and snark, that she’ll “kick your ass” as she often says.
If the above was not enough, Angela’s husband Tim, a former ENT physician, was diagnosed with MS in 2015. He can no longer walk, requires daily respite care, and relies on a motorized scooter. He teaches at Ohio Dominican and pays a driver for transportation via their mobility van.
Angela has not been able to work in nearly two years so they rely on one source of income and her minimal, monthly disability payment. Sadly, it’s simply not enough to cover the mounting expenses.
Angela and Tim do NOT ask for help—but we are asking for them. Her greatest wish is to be here for her sons—Richie, Alex, Evan, and granddog—Remi.
Bucci wanted to “make it long enough” to attend the boys’ graduation ceremonies and has been gloating, bragging, and beaming with pure joy since May.
Angela and Tim live in Powell, OH. Alex and Evan were offered jobs out of town and while Richie lives in New Albany, his demanding job limits the time he can help. Neither, Ang nor Tim want those burdens for their kids and the proof is in her vanity plate.
Many have asked how they can help so here we are. If able, ANY donation will be greatly appreciated, specifically to help cover the following:
• Transportation
• In-home caregivers
• Medical bills and supplies
• Daily living expenses
• Mobility Van balance
No matter what you call her—Ang, Angela, or Bucci—she is deeply loved by all of us and has given so much to her family, friends, and patients. Perhaps we can give back.
Thank you for your support, your compassion, and your generosity!
