On December 30, 2020 Norma Morales lost the fight against COVID-19. She is survived by her two kids (Carlitos and Susy), her mom (Niña Rosita or "Tita" as she is lovingly called by her grandkids), and her husband Carlos. God has truly gained an Angel with Norma. She was a strong mother who fought everyday for her kids who were diagnosed with Autism. She moved mountains to learn about Autism and to find therapies and activities for her kids. Norma volunteered as an interpreter and translator for Howard County Autism Society and supported Spanish speaking parents through their journey to advocate for their children.
25 years ago when I met Norma, I never knew the impact she would have in my life. Most people that met Norma I am sure would say the same. She was truly generous with her time. She was always so busy between taking the kids to therapies, cub scout meetings, grocery shopping, or just daily errands, but she made time for those in need. She would make quick stops or calls just to say hi and check on how we were doing. I will truly miss my "big sister."
Please help me in raising funds for her family especially her kids. She had so many plans and dreams for Carlitos and Susy. She wanted to make sure that they learned how to survive in this world. She would often say, I want to make sure that they are ready so that one day when I am gone, they will be able to make it. This day has come to soon for all of us including her children. Le sobreviven sus dos hijos (Carlitos y Susy), su mamá (Niña Rosita o "Tita" como la llaman cariñosamente sus nietos) y su esposo Carlos. Dios verdaderamente ha ganado un ángel con Norma. Era una madre fuerte que luchaba todos los días por sus hijos a quienes se les diagnosticó autismo. Movió montañas para aprender sobre el autismo y encontrar terapias y actividades para sus hijos. Norma se ofreció como intérprete y traductora para la Sociedad de Autismo del Condado de Howard y apoyó a los padres de habla hispana en su camino para defender a sus hijos.
Hace 25 años, cuando conocí a Norma, nunca supe el impacto que tendría en mi vida. Estoy segura de que la mayoría de las personas que conocieron a Norma dirían lo mismo. Ella fue verdaderamente generosa con su tiempo. Siempre estaba muy ocupada entre llevar a los niños a terapias, reuniones de cub scouts, ir de compras al supermercado o simplemente hacer los recados diarios, pero hacía tiempo para los necesitados. Hacía paradas rápidas o llamaba sólo para saludar y ver cómo estábamos. Verdaderamente extrañaré a mi "hermana mayor".
Ayúdenme a recaudar fondos para su familia, especialmente para sus hijos. Tenía tantos planes y sueños para Carlitos y Susy. Quería asegurarse de que aprendieran a sobrevivir en este mundo.
