Hi friends, My family and I are fundraising for funeral expenses for my Uncle Gui who passed away in Puerto Rico. His death is unexpected and completely tragic.

Last week my uncle had a fall from about 50 feet up and was rushed to the hospital with a broken pelvis, L4-L5 spinal injury and head fracture. He developed thrombosis and he was due to have surgery the next day but healthcare providers in Puerto Rico are on strike so he spent the whole week in pain and without the medical care he required. Family wasn’t allowed to go in to visit him or call to find out information on his condition. Yesterday a family friend who happened to be in the hospital was able to sneak into his room and check in on him. She says my uncle was conscious and talking. He told her about how awful they had been treating him there and how he hadn’t gotten any medical care. This morning his brother and nephew went to the hospital to try and take care items to him and they were very bluntly told that he had died overnight. The hospital never contacted our family to let us know of his passing and now they are giving our family the run around to try and get his body to the funeral home to give him a proper burial.

My uncle was a strong, healthy, funny 58 year old guy who had the worse luck but always pushed forward in life. You were guaranteed to laugh when he was around because he told the funniest stories. He was my mother’s youngest brother, one of 8 siblings, father of two children and grandfather of 5. Our family is grieving that he was taken from us in such an unexpected and cruel way and we don't have many answers, but we trust the Lord and His plan for us. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5-6
