Angel Lighty Suhrstedt Memorial Scholarship Fund
Donation protected
Hello beloved friends, family, and community!
I met Angel in 2012 when we were both transitioning into public library work as mid-career professionals. She believed strongly in the power of libraries and was a fierce advocate of literacy, of public service, of diverse, open-minded collections, progressive thinking, and radical welcome.
It is our goal to raise $25,000 to establish a memorial scholarship in Angel’s name at the University of Oklahoma Foundation (though we all know she bled orange), which would provide an annual award for a mid-career student working toward earning a Masters of Library and Information Studies degree.
We know this is an ambitious fundraising goal, but are channeling Angel’s optimism! In the event we fall short of the $25k needed for a scholarship fund, we will work with the Metropolitan Library Endowment Trust to make a donation toward purchasing forward-thinking library materials in Angel’s memory.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions you may have, and thank you sincerely for considering a donation. Every few dollars makes a difference and will help us keep her memory— and energy— alive.
