July is the month of....

....America's Independence (July 4th)

.....Guam's Liberation (July 21st)

Now...this July 2019, we campaign "For Angel's Freedom of Mobility and Independence!!!"

As many of you know, asking for assistance is very difficult to do.  In doing so you need to acknowledge that you need help and have to share your situation.  By sharing something so personal, you become extremely vulnerable.  This is one of those times.

On March 8, 2019, Angel Aguon Santos Jr. a son of Guam, suffered a massive stroke at his home in Virginia.   Unaware of the event, his family did not find him in his bedroom until 12 hours after the initial attack occurred.  He was immediately rushed to the hospital where he remained for several months fighting for his life.  Then while in rehabilitation he suffered a second stroke on April 19, 2019.

Angel served as a TSA agent in both Guam, and more recently Virginia.  He was enjoying his recent relocation to Virginia because it allowed him to reconnect with his family and grandchildren who were already residing in the state. The move gave him the opportunity to expand the number of people he called friends and he was truly enjoying this next chapter in his life.

As you can imagine, both strokes have been a life-altering, series of unfortunate events for him and his loved ones.  The severity of these strokes have caused major damage to his body and he now requires constant medical supervision. His road to recovery has been long and challenging but we remain hopeful.  Physical and Occupational Therapy is needed because much of his mobility was lost.  It remains unsure how much time it will take for the healing process.

It’s easy to understand that the cost of medical supplies, ongoing therapy, hospital visits, nurse caregivers and the required prescription medicine to support him has been a huge financial burden on Angel and his family.  We are fortunate insurance has offset some of these costs, but with the level of constant care needed to help him heal, it is quite expensive and daunting.

Angel now has very limited mobility, thus permanently altering his way of life.  To accommodate these challenges, his loved ones took on the added expense of relocating to a handicap accessible home.  After 89 days in the hospital, Angel was discharged to his new home. The ongoing care and cost of medical supplies is truly too long to list.

As said in the beginning this is a difficult request. It is shocking at how fast your life can turn upside down with such a catastrophic event.  We are happy to still have Angel here in our lives and with the most humility, we are asking for financial support. Your gift will go a long way to a help care and support a man who many of you call a brother, a mentor and a friend.

Thank you for your prayers and consideration.

 Dankalu Na Si Yu’us Ma’ase.
(A huge thank you!”)
