E se há uma festa que vale mesmo a pena marcar no calendário, é a de São Mamede, em Janas. A aldeia transforma-se num autêntico arraial à moda antiga — com tudo o que nos faz bem: música, tradição, e aquele espírito de comunidade que aquece mais que o sol da tarde.

É marcada pela decorrência de uma romaria à praia com trajes antigos seguido de piquenique, missa com benção dos animais, passeio de motas clássicas, descida de carrinho de rolamentos, caminhada noturna e muito mais.

Serve o presente para informar que o Janas foi, infelizmente, alvo de um furto qualificado, que estimamos ter ocorrido no decorrer das últimas duas semanas.

Lamentavelmente, o furto resultou no roubo de todo o material e cabos elétricos que suportavam a infraestrutura e a logística indispensáveis para a realização dos nossos tradicionais festejos em honra de São Mamede. A gravidade da situação traduz-se no facto de não nos ter restado um único metro de cabo elétrico, inclusive a iluminação LED (adquirida no ano transato), com prejuizos que se estimam ser superiores aos 10.000€.

Este auxílio é fundamental para nos permitir avançar de imediato para a aquisição do material e garantir a continuidade desta festividade tão importante para a nossa comunidade.

And if there is one festival truly worth marking on the calendar, it is the São Mamede festivities in Janas. The village is transformed into a genuine old-fashioned fair — with everything that brings us joy: music, tradition, and that sense of community that warms us more than the afternoon sun.

The celebrations are marked by a traditional pilgrimage to the beach in period costumes followed by a picnic, a mass with the blessing of the animals, a classic motorcycle parade, a soapbox cart race, a nighttime walk, and much more.

This statement serves to inform you that Janas has unfortunately been the target of a serious theft, which we estimate occurred over the course of the last two weeks.

Regrettably, the theft resulted in the loss of all the electrical equipment and cables that supported the infrastructure and logistics essential for the realization of our traditional festivities in honor of São Mamede. The severity of the situation is reflected in the fact that not a single meter of electrical cable was left behind, including the LED lighting system (purchased last year), with damages estimated to exceed €10,000.

This support is essential to allow us to move forward immediately with the acquisition of new equipment and to ensure the continuation of this festival, which is so important to our community.
