Bingo’s story began on a cold night while I was tidying up near my garage and sorting through some trash. That’s when I stumbled upon a tiny, barely-alive kitten by a garbage bin. He was an orange cat, weighing less than three pounds, and it was clear that he had likely escaped from a backyard cattery in a nearby community. At the time, he was only about eight weeks old—frail and helpless—but there was a spark in his eyes that spoke of stubborn resilience and a fierce will to survive. Without any hesitation, I took him home and gave him the warmth and devoted care he so desperately needed.

Today, Bingo is 6 months, he has lived a joyful life with me, thanks to his incredible strength and determination. However, just 24 hours ago, his condition took a sudden and dangerous turn. Bingo developed acute anemia along with multiple inflammatory symptoms. After thorough testing, we discovered that he was born with a rare genetic defect. To make matters even more challenging, his blood type is the exceedingly rare Type B, which makes finding a compatible donor extremely difficult. We managed to visit three different hospitals before finally finding a kind little donor cat who donated blood, allowing Bingo to receive his first transfusion. Unfortunately, we have been unable to secure a second transfusion, as no additional compatible blood sources have been found. Bingo’s PCV is fell to 8% this morning.

As someone who has volunteered at several animal shelters over the years, I have witnessed countless miracles and experienced firsthand the kindness of strangers during desperate times. Now, as Bingo teeters between hope and despair, we urgently need the help of our community to give this brave little soul a fighting chance. The first phase of surgery has already cost CAD 4500, and doctors estimate that the entire treatment could range between CAD 9000 and CAD 12000. Sadly, even with these efforts, there is no guarantee of a full recovery.
