Andy’s Story
For 23 years, my husband Andy has proudly served our community as a firefighter and paramedic and most recently, Lieutenant and paramedic. On August 21, 2023—just one week after our wedding day—he was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer. What should have been the happiest time of our lives suddenly became the fight of his life. Since then, Andy has endured 12 rounds of FOLFOX chemotherapy, each one taking a toll on both his body and his spirit.
On August 8, 2025, Andy underwent an emergency colon bypass surgery that saved his life. Only weeks later, on September 10, he began yet another grueling round of chemotherapy. While he continues down this conventional path, we know he needs more than chemo alone to fight this disease.
Alongside chemotherapy, Andy is pursuing cutting-edge, medically recognized immunotherapy. This treatment is designed to target his specific tumor mutation and strengthen his immune system so it can recognize and fight the cancer directly. Unlike chemotherapy, which attacks healthy and unhealthy cells alike, immunotherapy offers a more precise and promising path forward.
Both Andy and I are currently unable to work. He has had to submit his disability paperwork, and our household income has been drastically reduced. This life-saving immunotherapy is not covered by insurance and is entirely out of pocket, making outside support essential.
Why We Need Your Help
Your generosity will help fund this treatment and give Andy the chance to preserve the health and strength he’s worked so hard to maintain all his life. We need a glimmer of hope—something to strive for that doesn’t strip him of everything he is. Your kindness and support will help him fight for his future, for more time with me, and for the chance to keep living the life we love together.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your compassion, generosity, and for standing with us in this fight.
With gratitude and hope,
Rebecca (on behalf of Andy)
