Andy's 4th Battle against UCC (Bladder Cancer)
Hi, My name is Don Fletcher, Andy's 24 year partner and husband, and I am fundraising for Andy Grifka's 4th battle with cancer. This being Andy's 4th battle against this dreaded persistent Urothelial Cell Carcinoma (UCC, Bladder Cancer), it is time to humble ourselves and reach out for help.
A couple of things one should know about Andy, on a personal level, is that throughout life, when he was able, he would always jump at the ability to help out literally 100's of individuals in rough times or in fund raising efforts if at all able. Also Andy is an avid animal lover. He spoils his 6 yr old Maltepoos, Burt and Abby. Most of the time more concerned with their care rather than his own (or mine, lol). You are more likely to see Andy trying to shoo a fly out the front door instead of swatting it with a fly swatter.
As day to day living continues to become more and more difficult, with Andy being on disability and myself on Social Security fixed incomes, Andy and I are sincerely, eternally and extremely gratefully appreciative and thankful for any and all of any help and prayers offered. We also extremely appreciate all your sharing of this fund raising effort with all that you feel may have ANY interest in helping.
All funds donated will be used for all, past, present, and future incidentals incurred for medical treatment of Andy's recurring Cancer, including already outstanding co-pays over $10,000 !
A little history:
Andy's Bladder Cancer originally occurred in his bladder in July 2015. In Sept of 2015 they removed all visible tumor and treated for 6weeks.
In March of 2016 the Cancer returned causing Bladder Removal and replacement with a neobladder.
Complicating matters in Feb. 2018 he had a bowel perforation placing him in a coma for 8 weeks with near loss of life along with the loss of about 40% of his intestinal tract creating complicated life time treatment for short gut care and treatment and unable to work.
In January 2019 the cancer returned for the third time in his kidney and they began Chemo treatment. A severe, almost loss of life, reaction to Chemo caused a 3 week stay in the hospital resulting in the need to remove one kidney.
The cancer has again occurred in his remaining kidney and we must do all to protect that kidney and try to beat this cancer for a 4th time !
Extreme Thanks again for ANY help in everyway.
