❤️ Our Campaign
Our home and studio were destroyed by fire during the holidays. Our insurance only covers a partial rebuild of the structure, but not our studio or artwork. We reach out to our global community to ask for contributions to help rebuild our arts studio and future artist residency program.
❤️ What Happened?
On Dec 14 I took my kids to an afternoon matinee, and when we returned home a few hours later our house was on fire and almost completely destroyed. The fire, which started in the living room due to a surge and compromised power strip, moved quickly to consume the structure in just three hours. The firefighters just couldn’t save it, and everything inside was destroyed.
Along with our furniture, clothes, keepsakes, and a car, the fire destroyed over 500 pieces of art including many of our own works.
We are an artistic family, and our home and studio were filled with things we had made or collected over the course of our lives. We decorated our home to inspire creativity, and all who visited described it as a magical place. Our family, along with visiting visual artists and musicians, have always found it to be a natural environment for making art.
Our intention is to recover from this tragedy and rebuild our creative lives, including our home and studio. We’re starting from scratch.
❤️ What’s Next?
Now its time to get busy. We’re taking steps as we prepare to rebuild.
It’s been a little over 2 months since the fire, and we are beginning to come to terms with the loss. In the first month we were in shock, living in a hotel, and riding the emotional rollercoaster of losing everything.
We’re now dealing with insurance and the logistics of recovering from this tragedy. We moved into a temporary home and began ordering replacements for lost documents. We are vetting home contractor resources and getting quotes for a rebuild.

❤️ What Can I Expect? br/> We will rise and rebuild with your help. We will share this journey with you through stories about the lost art, photos and videos of new work that we’re making as part of our own brand of art therapy in dealing with the tragedy. We’ll share our progress in video updates with our family and artists, as well as the quotes and stories which inspire us to keep going.
❤️ Then What? br/> Once rebuilt, we’ll invite you into our home and studio to experience our creative process through videos and photo updates on social.
We intend to create an artist residency program where we will host a few artists from around the world each year. Each artist will be invited to stay with us and create a painting or small body of work which may be featured online or in a gallery in Los Angeles.
