JUST TO BE CLEAR: I do not blame the people of Minneapolis seeking justice for George Floyd (and the last 50 years of police violence) for this, I blame the MPD! Everything that is happening is the result of actions by the MPD!
Yesterday I (Andy Carhart from Robbinsdale, MN) was at the union office doing some work and then walked downtown to attend the protest for justice for George Floyd. When I returned my car had been broken into. They took my $250 custom messenger bag I've had for 15 years and is now irreplaceable, all my medications, my checkbook, union files and checks and documents, and my macbook pro. I only have liability insurance so nothing is covered by insurance. I need to replace the window and need to buy a new laptop ASAP. Not only for personal use, but I need a computer to use for work, as I am still working from home because of COVID. As many of you know, I very much live paycheck to paycheck and recently had car repairs and vet bills that have tapped out my credit. So that's why I'm resorting to the great American tradition of asking friends through GoFundMe. I know many people are also struggling right now, but any help is greatly appreciated. Money raised will be used to pay for car window repair, a new laptop and case, new medications, and a new messenger bag. -Andy
