Hello, my name is Bente and I am hoping to help my children's' father raise money to cover the incredibly expensive journey he has ahead to treat his recent diagnosis of CMML-1, a rare blood cancer, which is in the late phases. (They call high risk.)

The treatment is a pill you take at home and where it is not administered at the hospital they want him to co-pay $1500 a pill for chemotherapy; the total out of pocket cost per month is $7500. He will have the treatment of five pills every 28 days for at least 16 months.

Andy has not been working since January as a result of this and other medical issues. Andy's wife, Annis, has had to reduce her hours to support Andy with appointments and care taking.

This is only one part of how they are being affected financially from this diagnosis and I don't think I know anyone who could afford to pay that cost without financial disruptions.

Andy is a friend to everyone he meets and did not deserve this devastating blow of first, the diagnosis, to now - the impossibly priced treatment to save his life. I know he has a lot of support here in Nova Scotia and that support extends across the world all the way to Australia. I am hoping people who know and love him will be willing to donate to help - absolutely no amount is too small!
