Andy is a straight shooter, a great listener and always offering to help someone out.

He is a former New York firefighter and EMT. He has worked in a variety of positions where he is helping people. He has tough skin but a soft heart (don’t tell him I said that he will deny it). Several years ago, Andy’s life changed when his kidneys weren’t functioning as they

should. Soon thereafter he started on dialysis several times a week. Andy is always optimistic and was hopeful he would receive a kidney transplant. A year ago, Andy received the news that he has cancer. Andys new “normal” was spending lots of time visiting doctors, trying new meds to try to kill the cancer, hospital stays, nausea and lack of energy. A few months ago, Andy was told by his team of doctors that the cancer treatment is not working, and it has spread to other parts of his body. The treatments have changed but are now more intense. The new treatment includes several different types of chemotherapy. Andy comes to work every day; he has a smile on his face and works his tail off. There are days he receives his chemotherapy while sitting at his desk at work like it’s nothing. The news he received is not what anyone wants to hear, the doctors say time is limited. He will be on chemotherapy for the rest of his life, this is his new normal.

Andy has a 12-year-old son, Liam and a 15-year-old daughter, Reyna that he loves with his whole heart! Andy met the woman of his dreams, Bethany, a few years ago and she has been right by his side and his biggest cheerleader.

Our goal for this event is to raise enough money for Andy to take his family to New York. This is where Andy is from, he wants to take his family back there to visit family and see where he grew up! Andy is also hoping to raise enough money to pay for his funeral expenses
