Please Help Support the Family of Andy Mattox
Donation protected
My name is Kristen Thacker, my husband Jason and I are longtime friends with Andy and Sarah. It is with the heaviest of hearts that we write this.
Andy Mattox, a hard-working, committed family man died unexpectedly after complications post back surgery. No one expected that a surgery to ease the pain he was enduring would turn into the worst case scenario and take his life. His family is left to figure out how to live life without their person.
Andy leaves his wife Sarah, her daughter Siera, his boys Brenton and Thuroh as well as his dog Oakley. Andy met Sarah 10 years ago (he told us about her while sitting around a fire - "I met a girl and she's real special") and she sure was - she stole Andy's heart and became his greatest love. Andy was proud of Sierra who is graduating from high school this year and plans to attend college in the fall. His boys, Brenton and Thuroh, he loved them fiercely and was one of the greatest fathers we've ever known. He once said "funny thing, the things that drive you crazy about your own kids are your own traits." Anyone can see Andy's warm features and big heart in his boys.
Andy was also a brother - he had two brothers - one in Oregon, one in Indiana and a sister in Germany. His mom and dad live in Greensburg, Indiana on the farm where Andy grew up. Every Monday night without fail, Andy would call them on his way home from work and talk to them - it often lasted until long after he was home. It didn't matter that Andy didn't live near his family he was still a family man!! Family mattered to him!
We met Andy 16 years ago when he moved east from Indiana. He was a frugal farm boy that paired well with the local Yankee ingenuity. Andy worked at Codman Community Farms in Lincoln, MA when he first came here from Indiana - keeping with his farm roots. He also worked at Davey Tree and Chestnut Farms before finding his home at Howe Lumber 7 1/2 years ago. There Andy became part of the Howe Lumber family - he started as a driver, moved to receiver and this past year he was promoted to the stores Purchaser. Andy loved his job and you could tell that when working with him - he always had a smile, a kind word and a calmness about him. He was always willing to put in the hard work to do what was right and had a no bullshit attitude - he was a dedicated coworker and friend.
Unfortunately, his life insurance is/was not current. Now Sarah and the kids are left with no funds to cover these expenses. Our goal is to help save the home that Andy worked so hard to build for his family and to cover the funeral expenses.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and thank you for your donation to help our friend that was like family. God bless and watch over each and ever one of you.
