Hi, my name is Kelli Sobel and I am creating this account for my brother and his family who recently lost their home and everything they owned to the devastating Maui wildfire that destroyed the historic town of Lahaina in a matter of a few hours. Andy grew up in Lahaina and was living with his wife and 9 month old daughter on Puapihi Street which has since been completely demolished due to the fires. They have lost not only their home and all of their possessions but also their beloved community and way of life. Our uncle and cousins also lost their homes and numerous family members and friends are displaced and suddenly out of work due to the fires. We are grateful our family is safe as not everyone was as fortunate. We grieve with and for our friends, neighbors and the community.
They setup a small distribution site were they evacuated to in Kihei for other Lahaina evacuees in the area and they delivered supplies to family and friends by way of the back road of Kahakuloa to help as best as possible when the Pali road was cut off. They know it will be a long road back to rebuilding and recovery but are determined to help their community in any ways possible.
This money will be used to purchase immediate essential items they need as well as helping them to re-establish a life and future proudly raising their daughter, Maeva in Lahaina, Maui.
