Dear Family, Friends, and Supporters,

My name is Emily, and I find myself reaching out for assistance for my little family during a time of immense loss. On October 19, 2023, we lost our beloved ‘Papa Bear,’ Andy, who was the light of our lives.

From the moment we met, we knew we were meant for each other. We had dreams of raising a large family, much like the one he had growing up. We now have two beautiful boys, age 5 and 3, who are the center of our world. Andy, known by many as a dedicated family man, devoted all his time, energy, and attention to our boys. He also had dreams and plans for our future. Instead of planning a wedding ceremony together, I now find myself planning his funeral.

Andy’s passing was sudden, and none of us were prepared for this. On October 7, 2023, I rushed him to the ER due to his cognitive decline, confusion, and loss of recognition. After ruling out stroke and meningitis, it was concluded that it was an aggressive autoimmune disease. After a week in the first hospital, he was transferred to another hospital for plasma exchange transfusion to essentially clean out his white blood cells and replace them with new ones to treat the disease and control his seizures. In this transfusion, 5 sessions were needed to complete the treatment but unfortunately, he only made it to 2. He fought hard and hung on as long as he could and despite extensive medical efforts, he passed on October 19, 2023. I still haven’t had the heart to tell my boys the truth; instead, I’ve said that daddy is no longer sick in the hospital and is now watching over us from the stars.

Andy was the sole breadwinner while I stayed home to care for our boys. His sudden passing has left us emotionally devastated and struggling with the financial burdens of bills, rent, living expenses and raising our boys alone.
