Androgynous Womxn
Androgynous Womxn are androgynous models who are exploring ways to break free of restrictive ways of thinking about gender in fashion and other aspects of self expression.
It is difficult to push boundaries in Kenya, a country which is only slowly changing attitudes and prejudices dominated by colonialism. Gaining support for adventurous thinking is always risky, no matter where you are. In Kenya it can even be dangerous.
They are temporarily being hosted by a refugee shelter (Lunko House) which is crowded and the tenancy laws don't allow that. Many of them are still on streets they need a home which can collect all of them. Lunko house is doing their best to guide and mentor them and will continue to guide them even after they get a home.
This project is to raise money to house them while they develop their fashion and independence. It is being organised by Miriam English, who lives in Australia and will take no part of the funds. Everything raised will be sent to Androgynous Womxn in Kenya.
