This is my son Andrew. He was born with Spina bifida (Meningocele). He has had to edure the challenges of growing up not being able to run and play llike his brothers and sister.  He is one of  1,500 children a year born with this condition . There are no words to describe the pain I saw in his eyes when his little brother and sister started walking but he, being much older, still could not. He has always needed the aid of a back brace and wheel chair. As a mother I felt so helpless and powerless to comfort my Andrew. His wheel chair in sense act as his legs. He loves sports and watching the athletes. Andrew says, "They inspire him." His dream is to be able to play basketball at school and come home and play with his little brother  (Jacob) and sister (Lily).  In order to play basketball, we have to buy him a new wheel chair that will give him more accessibility. This wheel chair will not only be for him to play basketball but to be mobile in his everyday life. Andrew is one of four of my children.
