Andrew’s new wheelchair #Drewstrong
Donation protected
First, I would like to thank everybody that has followed my story from the very beginning and has helped along the way. Whether it be donations, prayers, phone calls, or even a simple text, I greatly appreciate all of you!
For those that do not know me or know my story, I was involved in a diving accident at Emerald Isle, NC, which resulted in a broken neck and paralysis. We still pray that there will be a miracle to help me walk again, but for the time being, I'm confined to a wheelchair. This brings me to this cause.
Every five years, insurance will allow you to get a new wheelchair; however, you are responsible for 20% of the total cost. The price of my new wheelchair is $24,000, which leads me to pay a total of $4,800 out-of-pocket. This chair has been specially fit for me, and I've been waiting four months for it. But I had no idea that my total cost would be this much, as when I got my first one, I had met my max out-of-pocket because of my surgery. So, my main objective is to raise enough money to cover this 20%.
My second issue is the van that I purchased last year that literally had the bottom fall out after two months. Insurance will not cover it, and the dealer would not agree to take it back, so I've been paying two van payments for the past year. I've had very little help trying to hold the people accountable. So right now, I'm stuck still paying for a $20,000 paperweight. It has been over a year, so now the total is $16,800 on the vehicle. Some people have told me just to let it go, but I really hate to take that hit to my credit because I've always had near-perfect credit. Any funds raised over the $4,800 will go towards paying this van off. I'm hoping I will be able to negotiate a payoff amount with the bank if I have sufficient funds.
I've never been the type of person to ask for help, especially financially. But I'm grateful for the many friends that have supported me and assured me that it's OK to ask for help sometimes. I sincerely thank everyone that is able to help out. And if you are not able to, please just keep me in your prayers.
