Andrew's Marathon Distance Run for Hero Dogs
Tax deductible
LONG WRITE UP ALERT. So during this quarantine times I witnessed a guy bear crawl a marathon distance through NYC and another man with Down Syndrome become the first person with Down Syndrome to complete an Ironman. Both incredible feats. So I decided there was no reason I shouldn't be able, with training to complete running a marathon, which compared to what those two did is miniscule. At the time of starting fundraising I will be 14 weeks into an 18 week Marathon training program, thru the Peloton app. Anyone that knows me knows my fitness journey has basically been strictly weight training the last 7-8 years, and 0 cardio. So this is a big deal to me. I never thought I would run a half marathon let alone a full Marathon. I thought while I'm at it why not raise a little money for an organization that has become extremely important to me since July 2019, HERO DOGS INC. Hero Dogs is an organization that raises and trains future service, therapy, facility and home companion dogs. As therapy and service dogs once training is complete, they are paired up with former veteran and first responders who depend on these amazing dogs to deal with mental, physical and emotional disabilities. My wife and I joined Hero Dogs raising a Yellow Lab, Hero Dog Monty, for about 14 months. We got him at 8 weeks old and raised him through training, direction, and classes through Hero Dogs. Monty went off to Advanced Training in September and is working hard to become one of the jobs mentioned earlier. My plan is to run this Marathon Distance Run on my own some point in late March early April. As the dates get closer I will update. I really would like to help out Hero Dogs as sort of a thank you for what my wife and I learned with Monty. We have recently adopted a 8week old(when we got him) chocolate lab Rooney who we are raising/training the same way Monty was in hopes of him being able to be a therapy dog, but we get to keep him for good. Any little bit that helps. I hope the Fiscal Goal is just a starting point but any bit helps this life changing organization. I will update this page on my training and more information on Hero Dogs as time goes on. Thank you so much for helping me on this journey and making a difference in so many lives through these amazing Dogs and organization.
