If you don’t know about his journey this year here’s a quick overview. Andrew was born at 28 weeks and spent 7 months in the hospital followed by 8 admissions in 3 months. He recently came home again after a two week stay for RSV. He has battled a long list of things including brain bleeds, a PDA, NEC, and bacterial meningitis. His brain bleeds developed hydrocephalus which led to four brain surgeries leaving him with a shunt which he will have forever and most likely more surgeries to come as they have a high failure rate. To further complicate his development he has hypertonia which means he has tight muscles. Lastly, he was most recently diagnosed with Cortical Visual Impairment. This means he has some level of vision loss which we don’t know the extent of yet.

This has all left him extremely behind developmentally so he would greatly benefit from a jump start on physical therapy. He is signed up to attend a 3 week intensive physical therapy session in North Carolina with All Kids Are Perfect the end of January. The therapy session and all travel expenses are out of pocket not covered by insurance. This would be a hefty cost for anyone but especially now that Derek has had to cut his hours to part time to stay home with Andrew. Andrew tried going to daycare but after having a breathing episode there everyone felt he was not strong enough yet. If you watch the amazing work done at this facility I am confident every penny will be worth it.
