Andrew's Home Modifications
Donation protected
Andrew was hit by an SUV and sustained brain damage, permanent kidney damage and spinal cord injury leaving him paralyzed from the waist down. We are raising funds to do home modifications to meet Andrew's needs as well traveling to Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore for intense therapy, and adaptable equipment.
Kennedy Krieger is home to the International Center for Spinal Cord Injury (ICSCI), the world's first facility focused on researching and treating chronic spinal cord injuries and paralysis. While most other spinal cord programs concentrate on helping individuals learn to compensate for injuries believed to be permanent, the spinal cord injury center relies on an innovative treatment philosophy known as activity-based - restorative - therapy actually promote recovery of function, even in patients whose injuries occurred years ago.
This is the only place in the world that offers Andrew hope of ever regaining any function and the chance to walk again.
Also, part of his home program-Andrew needed a special bike
the FES RT 300 to help stimulate his nerves and hopefully help regaining function. The insurance has already declined our claim to get one.
Update after many appeals Andrew received a FES RT 300 in late 2015.
We are asking for any help you are willing to give for the home modifications to meet Andrews needs to allow him to be more independent with in our home.
Thank you!
