I’m Andrew Williams, a native of Texarkana, Arkansas and a junior at Yale University. Out of the hundreds of auditions across the US and Europe, I have recently been offered admission into the Midsummer in Oxford program to study acting this summer. The program is organized by the British American Drama Academy (BADA) in association with the Yale School of Drama (YSD) and held at Oxford University. While this is great news, unfortunately, I cannot afford the total costs of the program despite receiving financial aid. More About Me
-History of Science, Medicine, and Public Health major w/ Arts and Media concentration.
-member of the Heritage Theatre Ensemble (actress Angela Bassett was an early member)
-performed at the Yale Cabaret (YSD's extracurricular theatre) and with FOLKS (YSD's Black theatre group)
-I teach for an afterschool science/college prep program for New Haven high school students
-I work at the Afro-American Cultural Center at Yale
More About the Midsummer in Oxford Program and BADA
-Designed for serious acting students at all levels over the age of eighteen and concentrates on classical acting with an emphasis on Shakespeare.
-Classes are held from 9am - 6pm.
-The MIO faculty is comprised of distinguished actors and directors as well as leading teachers from Britain's foremost drama schools.
-The following actors have taught masterclasses for the program: Alan Rickman (Professor Snape from Harry Potter), Kevin Spacey (Frank Underwood from House of Cards), Sir Ben Kingsley (Gandhi), David Schwimmer (Friends).
-Alums of BADA include Orlando Bloom (The Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean), Chadwick Boseman (Get on Up, 42), Anna Gunn (Breaking Bad), Paul Rudd (I Love You, Man; Knocked Up), Bellamy Young (Scandal)
-Students and faculty make an all-day excursion to Stratford-upon-Avon to see an evening performance by the Royal Shakespeare Company.
