Andrew's rehab and bringing him home

Donation protected
My great friend Norman Holladay is raising money to bring his son Andrew back home after 3 years of being in hospitals and rehab centres. I want to help him - here is his story.

Andrew was going along happily, living with his family including two small children in Chester, when he had a brain tumour diagnosed in 2017. It was large but benign and the operation to remove it should have been relatively straightforward, albeit due to take some 16 hours or so. Unfortunately, he was the unlucky small percentage for whom there were complications and they have left him with a life-changing brain injury. Thankfully, he is cognitively the same man with the same sense of humour.

After that first operation at the Walton Centre, he progressed to their Sid Watkins Centre for rehab then on to a specialist neurological rehab centre in Crewe where he continued to fight back against the injury. Unfortunately, at the time of the first Covid lockdown earlier this year, he started to deteriorate as the tumour had regrown. He was offered a risky second operation to remove the tumour again, which he readily agreed to, and thankfully it went well as almost all of the tumour was removed. So he is now back at the Sid Watkins Centre to restart his rehab.

After more than three years in hospitals and rehab centres, Andrew of course wants to be home with his family again but before that can happen extensive modifications are needed to his house with all the necessary specialist equipment. So to the point of this, we are fundraising to help with the cost of the building modifications and equipment.

Concept2 have an upcoming 'Holiday Challenge', which is to row 100km on an ergo from 26 November to 24 December. Norman, I and others propose to replicate that challenge which is to row the 100km between the same dates and would be extremely grateful to anyone who could sponsor us for it. We would also be delighted if anyone wants to join us in the challenge and possibly seek sponsors for the cause themselves.

Any support you feel inclined to provide will be gratefully received and much appreciated by Andrew's family. The link to the fundraising site is below, and it explains Andrew's story in more detail.
