Since I was a little girl, my dad’s passion for cars was always clear to me. One of my earliest memories is helping him label car parts when he first started this project. He was the go-to person for any car repair, and to this day, anyone I meet who knew my dad has at least one story that starts with, “Oh, when Andy fixed my car…” or “When he helped repair this for me…”

He was also one of the administrators for Jag Lovers in Switzerland, sharing his incredible knowledge with the wider Jaguar community. Needless to say, his 1968 Jaguar 3.8S-Type became his life’s project, and no matter how difficult life became, that car was always a lifeline for him.

In 2019, things were finally starting to go well. He was preparing to put the engine back into the car when he suddenly passed away from a heart attack.

While clearing through his belongings during one of the hardest times in our lives, it became painfully clear that apart from my brother and me, the most important thing in my father’s life was his Jag. We found boxes filled with detailed notes, carefully restored parts, and years of dedication. Every little piece felt like a small part of our dad.

Heartbroken, I couldn’t bear to sell the car.

For years, all the responsible adults around me told me I should let it go. They said it would take too much money, too much time, and that finishing it would be unrealistic. Especially since my dad never got the chance to teach me how to work on cars myself. So the Jag has sat in storage ever since, waiting for the next step on its journey.

Whenever I asked my dad when the car would finally be finished, his answer was always the same:

“When you get married.”

I may not be engaged or planning a wedding anytime soon, but I’ve realised that I can not just give up, and that I need to finish the car.

That is why I have decided to bring the car to the UK and finally complete my father’s life project.

This is absolutely a project of the heart and not a financially sensible decision. But it would be a tragedy to let Andrew’s life’s work slowly disappear after everything he poured into it.

Any donation, no matter how small, will help me transport, restore, and finally finish the Jaguar that meant so much to my dad.
