Andrew & Shannyn Flood Recovery Help
Donation protected
It has been a difficult summer. It feels like I could be almost anywhere in the world writing that sentence. For my husband, Andrew, and me it has been the floods that impacted Vermont so heavily in July. Our home, thankfully, remained safe and dry, but Andrew's massage office in downtown Montpelier became unusable due to flood damage. Many businesses and practitioners were displaced and finding a new space was a slow process given how limited the remaining spaces were in town.
Andrew wasn't able to work for over a month. During that time we waded through the confusing and often contradictory instructions about how to apply for aid and reached out to every avenue of support available for small businesses and self employed folks impacted by the floods. And were deemed ineligible for every one.
So, here we find ourselves needing to ask for help to cover basic expenses, like rent and food. Andrew and I live very much paycheck to paycheck and when even a couple do not come in it begins a cycle of stress and deep instability that is difficult to recover from. We are a two-chronic illness home and the environmental impacts of the floods coupled with the wildfire smoke in town have exacerbated our symptoms and added another layer of difficulty to navigating this time.
Donations of any amount greatly appreciated.
