April 25, 2020 -- I come to all of you at this time with a very heavy heart.  Nine days ago, my son Andrew got arrested in Ohio.  I live in New York.  He is looking at a very long period of time in prison.  I have very little funds on hand and I don't want him to walk into court with only a public defender to defend him.  As many of you know, public defenders have an overload of work cases and don't make very much money for what they are expected to do.  My concern is that my son will not get a proper defense, and as a result may spend a very long time in prison. This would not be such a big problem for me if I had money to pay an attorney.  The truth is, I don't have very much money.  What I do have is liver cancer, emphysema, diabetes and other major illnesses.  As a result of having to deal with the situation my son is in, I believe I am having a complete breakdown.  In the past nine days, I have slept or eaten very little.  I fear that if he is convicted, he will be in prison for a long time with no one to help him in any way, and when he gets out, will be alone in this world.  Knowing that my son is being represented by an attorney would greatly help me get through this time and hopefully, give him a better chance in court. I am begging you to please help both my son and myself in dealing with this horrific situation.
