Andrew James Memorial

Our colleague and friend, Andrew “Andy” James passed away suddenly this weekend, leaving behind his wife, Gabby, and two boys, Aidyn and Nolan. He was a great father, husband, coworker, mentor, friend, and leader in his community.

Andy’s love for the outdoors followed him throughout his career, where he became a regional industry expert in the field of stream restoration. As the Environmental Design Manager in the East Gulf Region, Andy was a leader in growing Volkert's water resources and stream restoration practice across the Southeast. He was awarded the 2017 Young Engineer of the Year Award by Mobile Area Council of Engineers (MACE) and the 2019 Outstanding Engineer Award by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Mobile Branch. He also served as the project manager for multiple award-winning projects.

You couldn’t be around Andy long before you were laughing at the many random facts he knew or one of his unique stories. The entire Volkert family that knew Andy well are extremely saddened by his passing and he is already greatly missed.
