Andrew Gidley Cancer Fund

My 21-year-old nephew, Andrew Gidley has brain cancer and needs help paying for treatment, transportation, and temporary housing in Houston while he undergoes treatment at MD Anderson Cancer Center. After battling intermittent headaches and vomiting  misdiagnosed as sinusitis and viral infections, Andrew was scheduled for a CT scan, which was postponed due to COVID-19.   His symptoms drastically worsened over the course of 3 days, so his mother took him to a stand alone emergency room, where a CT was done and a large mass was discovered.  A neurosurgeon removed the brain tumor, which was identified as a glioblastoma by a treatment team at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. 

Andrew needs financial assistance to pay for mounting medical bills and temporary living quarters in Houston while he undergoes chemotherapy and radiation treatment for a minimum initial course of 6 weeks. Some clinical trials that he may be eligible for are not covered by insurance and require upfront payment to participate. Andrew’s mother, a nurse, will be traveling back and forth to Houston to work shifts at her job in Corpus Christi while his father does the same from Longview so Andrew won't be alone.  

The average prognosis for his tumor type is 4-5 years; however, there are stories of longer term survival to give Andrew real hope and something to fight for. Andrew has a very strong will to live, and he believes God has an amazing plan for his future to be of service to others.   He also has hopes and dreams of achieving an engineering degree, and one day being able to experience having his own family.  This is the start of very long and daunting journey for them. Please keep them in your prayers. Our family is putting faith in God to provide healing and comfort to Andrew and his parents through this time of trial.
