Andrew Garcia
Hi. My name is Richard Garcia, and I am Andrew Garcia's dad.
Andrew was cleaning a patio at his daughter Cara's preschool on a gorgeous Southern Cal Saturday morning as part of his work duties. All alone while using a leaf blower, Andrew didn't see the wood landscape edging behind him.
Stepping backwards, he tripped on the edging, falling back and crashing his left arm through an old, single pane window. His arm didn't stand a chance as a large shard of glass sliced through every muscle, tendon, nerve and artery down to the bone.
Andrew yelled for help but no one heard. He quickly began bleeding to death. Managing to squeeze his arm and all its dangling parts together, he mustered strength to dash to a busy street 100 yards away. Andrew never made it, collapsing less than half-way there.
Another cry for help, then he used his remaining breath to dial 911, giving them his location before he passed out from blood loss. Good Samaritans and EMTs kept him alive long enough for surgeons to save his life.
But saving the arm wasn't assured.
Six hours of surgery later, the waiting game began over whether or not the arm would be amputated. By God's grace, two days later surgeons felt confident enough to declare the arm saved. They also said Andrew would need 16 to 18 months of rehab, as nerves only grow 1mm per day.
Andrew's wife Natalie and their two children, Cara and Corban, have been living under tremendous stress as Daddy lays in pain and distress, wondering when he'll come home to them. Natalie tries her best to keep the family running "normal" without Dad in the picture. Andrew battles the physical pain and recovery stuff while also wrestling with mental anguish over how will his family function without his help for a long season.
Then there's the bills...
Financial needs add up fast, and they've only just begun.
If you can help Andrew and his family with a financial gift, it will go a long way in getting them through this incredibly difficult season. They greatly appreciate your help.
If a financial gift isn't possible for you at this time, your prayers for a speedy and complete recovery, and for peace of mind and soul and life in general are just as highly treasured.
Thank you for your prayerful consideration and all your support.
