Help Andrew recovering from fractured pelvis in a BMX Race

Hi, we are Mike and Dave, clubmates of Bruntwood Park BMX club and we are raising funds on behalf of Andrew Mycock our friend and fellow racer.

Albeit new to the BMX family, Andrew has been giving his time helping out at our local club and has recently joined his son in both training and entering the clubs Whipping into Winter race series. This series turned out to have an amazing novice category filled with up to 16 racing dads.

Unfortunately, in the first Moto (race) of the last round of the winter series on Saturday 14th December 2024, Andrew clipped bars with a fellow racing dad and took a hard crash.

Andrew had to be taken to hospital in an ambulance as he was unable to get up from the fall. (Our thanks to the Northwest Ambulance Service!).

Once at the hospital, it was discovered that Andrew has fractured his Pelvis and will undergo surgery as we initiate this GoFundMe project.

He will likely be staying in hospital over Christmas.

The road to recovery will include at least 6 weeks of no load bearing followed by plenty of physiotherapy. At this stage, we do not know when Andrew will be able to return to work.

Andrew has a physical job as a gardener and will struggle to return to work straight away.

To support Andrew a few of his clubmates / friends started a private support fund and after the generosity of these great people and with the blessing of his family we decided to take this to the wider community with the hope to raise £4500

This money will help to cover costs associated with being stuck in hospital and most importantly will go towards all of the real-life cost associated with running a family household during the period where Andrew cannot work.

Sam, Andrews wife is self employed and will need to provide care for Andrew in the early stages of his rehab along with raising their children and all the usual family responsibilities.

The road to recovery for Andrew will be tough, but he will get there because he is a BMX warrior!
