On the morning of 29th April 2026 we received the truly devastating news that our friend Crabed had passed away. This has sent shockwaves through the Ashton-in-Makerfield community as he was loved by so many! He was known for his kind and loving nature, his infectious laugh, his courageous dance moves, his daft jokes, and above all else, not taking life too seriously!
Crab had only just celebrated his 30th birthday last month. This tremendous, senseless loss of a young man, who had so much more life yet to live, has left us all struggling to come to terms with it. As his friends, we have decided to raise money to help support his family with funeral arrangements and to help ease their pressures at this time.
On Sunday 10th May, we invite you to join us for a walk at Catbells, a popular fell in The Lake District, a relatively easy walk so people of all walking abilities can attend. This walk is not only to raise money, but will be an opportunity for all those who knew and loved Crabed to get together and reminisce the good times we’ve all shared.
Meeting at 7am at Ashton market, we will discuss travel arrangements, cars, lifts etc. Alternatively, head straight to Catbells, where we will aim to start the walk at approx 10am. We hope to see as many people as possible! Please feel free to contact Matty Parkinson or Rick Ollerton for further info or to be added to the group WhatsApp.
No contribution is too small. Please donate, share and/or join us to help give this legend the send off he deserves!
Funeral arrangements will be announced once confirmed.
Thank you.
