Andrew is without a home in Champaign, IL. I met him while taking pictures for an assignment downtown when he approached me and told me I looked awfully goofy taking pictures of buildings with nothing in them. We talked for the next half an hour about his time in service, his son in Florida, and the fact that he has been continually denied of disability compensation despite being in a wheelchair following heart surgery. He showed me pictures he took with students he has become friends with and he pulled down one of his wool socks to show me the scars on his leg where the veins and arteries that are now in his heart were taken from. While his recovery has not been easy, it has been made even harder by the fact that he does not have a place to stay and instead has to make at least $61 a night in order to pay for a hotel room. Any help in providing stable housing for the time being would be appreciated - the world is a better place with a man as kind as this, and he needs help right now.
