Andrew Baisley-Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL)
Donation protected
Since 2017 Andrew has been fighting a very tough battle with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). Turning 29 in December, Andrew has spent that past 5 years going through various treatments and surgeries which have unfortunately been unsuccessful. In 2017 Andrew received a bone marrow transplant in efforts to cure his Leukemia diagnosis. Doctors had noted that if the transplant was successful for 5 years, Andrew could potentially make it into remission. Sadly, Andrew’s body has rejected the transplant just under the 5-year mark. As a result, Andrew has now developed Graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), a systemic disorder that occurs when the healthy transplanted cells recognize the host as foreign and attack the recipient's body cells.
This is a new battle Andrew must now face, in addition to his fight against Leukemia. GVHD does not only come with both extremely painful and physical implications, but also a huge financial impact. The new medication to keep the GVHD side effects minimal for Andrew is $1,000/per week. Unfortunately, what Andrew receives for disability and medical insurance is not enough to cover this new medication, in addition to his regular medications to ensure he remains comfortable.
We are asking for support to help cover the cost of this new medication as well as your support and prayers for Andrew and his family during this difficult time.
