Purchasing my Graduation Regalia
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Andrew Roser. After a total of 14 years in college (for 3 degrees), I am finally set to graduate from Louisiana Tech University with my PhD in Molecular Sciences and Nanotechnology on November 19th, 2022. Unfortunately, the school has recently changed the doctoral regalia to use a custom design that is difficult, if not impossible, to acquire via third-party manufacturers. I was also told I will not walk at graduation if I do not have the custom regalia. There is a big difference between the price of renting the regalia and purchasing it. At this time, I do not have the funds to buy the regalia, but as a professor, I will be required to wear regalia at least twice a year (the first being December of this year), and I'd like to be able to show my LA Tech pride. My ultimate goal is to buy the customized version for future use, but limited timing means I will have to rent the regalia for the actual graduation ($389.38) and then purchase it as soon as I can save up enough money. Saving right now is difficult since I also have other costs associated with printing and binding my dissertation, renting the regalia this week, and the travel expenses for the event. Below is the breakdown of what I am asking for assistance with.
Cost to purchase regalia: $1372.47
(See photo. The shipping cost will not be included which adjusts the overall cost.)
My goal is set to $1400 to account for any unseen charges or fees associated with the purchase.
This graduation ceremony celebrates my greatest academic achievement. Attending this ceremony is not just for me but for the friends and family who have supported me through the years, including my professors, who have become family to me.
Thank you for considering helping me with this last hurdle. I will never be able to express the thanks that you all deserve.
