Andrew "AJ" Seeger Memorial Fund
Donation protected
At thirty-five years young, Andrew James Seeger passed away suddenly on January 22, in his San Diego home. Though his friends called him AJ, his wife, Kimberly had the sole privilege of referring to him simply as Drew. On that Friday afternoon, AJ suffered a massive seizure and died quickly with Kim at his side. Firefighters and EMTs responded immediately and exhausted all efforts, they were unable to revive him. In addition to his wife, AJ sadly leaves behind three sons and their pup, his parents, brother, maternal grandmother, several aunts and uncles, numerous cousins, and dear friends.
Kim says, Drew thoroughly enjoyed spending every opportunity with her and his boys at Mission Bay and Ocean Beach, swimming, kayaking, or hiking in the local mountains. The outing rarely mattered so long as they were able to spend time together.
His father recalls how Andrew always dreamed of working for the Fire Service in one way or another. His grades in Fire Science Classes were outstanding and his passion ran deep. In addition to his commitment to the Fire Academy, he served as a volunteer firefighter in Julian. Unfortunately, ongoing health issues prevented him from pursuing those dreams further. In April of 2015, Andrew was diagnosed with Bipolar I Disorder which involves periods of severe mood episodes from mania to depression.
Despite his personal health challenges, Andrew’s family was his everything. He had unwavering devotion to his wife and children, along with enormous admiration for the work ethic examples set by his father, brother, uncles, and grandparents.
In conjunction with ongoing medical necessities and limitations, Kim and Andrew were struggling to make ends meet with the help from family and friends. For them, life insurance, was of course a luxury they could not afford at a time they needed it most.
While the family struggles to budget for a funeral and grave marker, they are facing overwhelming challenges in the near and short term. As such, we are turning to the family, friends, and the community to help cover the cost of Andrew’s memorial, and short-term expenses which will help the Seeger Family get back on their feet. Any financial assistance, large or small, would be not only a blessing for Kim and her family, but would also be deeply appreciated.
We pray Andrew rests in peace with Papa Jim, Oma, and Opa.
Thank you and God bless.
