Andre's Brain Surgery Fund

The week of November 22, 2022, André presented symptoms of what seemed to be severe flu. After a medical check-up, he underwent antibiotic treatment on the 23rd of the same month. On November 25, 2022, André presented a very critical condition, that required urgent hospitalization in the city of Monterrey.

André presented a very critical condition for which he was admitted to the emergency room. After an exhaustive review in the emergency area, André's family was informed by the specialist doctors about a severe infection that had severely affected his respiratory system. Both eyes were affected, but most critically, the infection invaded the brain. The infection generated an abscess that had to be removed immediately due to the risk of necrosis in a matter of hours, putting his life at risk.

On the same night of November 25, André underwent neurosurgery, endonasal functional surgery, and surgery on the right eye to rescue sight. The infection was so aggressive that it completely destroyed the cartilage of the nose, and a bone extract had to be removed due to the severe infection. The bone extract was later analyzed and the results showed that due to the severe infection, the bone could not be placed again.

André spent 10 days in intensive care due to the aggressiveness of the infection. André had to undergo neurosurgery for the second time to remove the membrane that was forming and functional endonasal surgery for the second time. On the other hand, it has been identified that maxillofacial surgery is necessary due to the affectation in the jaw. André continues under rigorous treatment, control endoscopies, tomographies, and laboratory tests are being performed to ensure the complete elimination of the infection. Once the infection is completely eradicated, another neurosurgery is needed to implant a 3D prosthesis through a cranioplasty with a custom 3D implant from OSSIS NOVUM.

During this process, the insurance company states that the entire case is classified as a nose problem and they refuse to cover the full cost of treatment as stipulated in the policy, leaving the family with 30% responsibility. This will be taken to a legal process since that is a wrong diagnosis, but that process will take a long time and at this moment the urgency of André's surgical treatment is very critical.

André fought for his life for several days, and today he is on his way to recovery. Unfortunately with such a sudden situation, there is no way to plan such a monetary commitment for his treatment. André's family is covering around 25% of the expenses generated but since the expenses involve 6 surgeries and long treatment. André's family hopes to raise the necessary funds to complete the expenses of the series of emergency surgeries that André has had to undergo in the last 3 weeks, and to be able to complete the treatment with surgical interventions and pending hospitalization.

André is a university student with a scholarship due to his sports skills and profile. He is currently studying Law in the 7th semester at the Tecnológico de Monterrey in the city of Monterrey. He also is an American football player and cross fitter, André has always been characterized by his nobility of spirit and we know that he will soon be 100% recovered and will be able to return to normality after an intense recovery.

The funds will transfer directly from Gloria Lizarraga to the Hospital San José TecSalud bill.

The funds will be used to complete the pending payment for the 6 surgeries and the pending brain implant surgery, hospitalization, and treatment.

La semana del 22 de noviembre de 2022, André presenta un cuadro de lo que parecía ser una gripe severa y posterior a revisión médica se somete a un tratamiento antibiótico el 23 del mismo mes. El 25 de noviembre de 2022 André presenta una condición muy crítica teniendo que ser hospitalizado de urgencia en la ciudad de Monterrey.

André presentó un cuadro muy crítico por lo cual fue ingresado a urgencias, después de una revisión exhaustiva en el área de urgencias, la familia de André es informada por los doctores especialistas acerca de una severa infección que le ha afectado de manera severa el aparato respiratorio, ambos ojos ero de manera marcada el derecho, y lo más crítico, la infección invadió el cerebro generando un absceso que tiene que ser removido de inmediato debido a riesgo de necrosis en cuestión de horas poniendo en riesgo su vida.

La misma noche del 25 de noviembre André es intervenido quirúrgicamente a través de neurocirugía y de cirugía funcional endonasal, así como cirugía del ojo derecho con el propósito de rescatar la vista. La infección fue tan agresiva que destruyó por completo el cartílago de la nariz y un extracto de hueso tuvo que ser removido debido a la severa afectación presentada que posteriormente fue analizado y por la severa infección no puede ser colocado de nuevo.

André estuvo 10 días en terapia intensiva y debido a la agresividad de la infección, André ha tenido que ser intervenido por segunda ocasión a través de una neurocirugía para remover membrana que se estaba formando y de igual manera por segunda ocasión a una cirugía funcional endonasal. Por otra parte se identifica que es necesaria una cirugía maxilofacial debido a la afectación en la mandíbula y André continúa bajo un tratamiento riguroso, continúan las endoscopías de control, tomografías, laboratorios para asegurar la completa eliminación de la infección ya que una vez que se logre se requiere de otra neurocirugía para implante de prótesis 3D a través de una craneoplastía con implante personalizado 3D de OSSIS NOVUM.

Durante este proceso, la compañía aseguradora dictamina que todo el caso se clasifica como un problema de nariz y debido a las condiciones generales niegan cubrir el costo total del tratamiento tal como se estipula en la póliza dejando a la familia con la responsabilidad del 30%. Esto será llevado a un proceso legal ya que ese es un diagnóstico equivocado, pero ese proceso lleva mucho tiempo y en este momento está presente la urgencia del tratamiento quirúrgico de André.

André se debatió entre la vida y la muerte por varios días y hoy está encaminado a lograr la recuperación, lamentablemente con una situación tan repentina no hay manera de planear semejante compromiso monetario para poder tratar al paciente. La familia de André está cubriendo alrededor del 25% de los gastos generados pero debido a que se trata de 6 cirugías y un tratamiento largo, la familia de André espera recaudar fondos necesarios para completar los gastos de la serie de cirugías de emergencia a las que André ha tenido que someterse en las últimas 3 semanas y poder completar el tratamiento con las intervenciones quirúrgicas y hospitalización pendiente.

Debido a sus aptitudes deportivas y perfil, André es un estudiante universitario becado y actualmente cursa 7mo semestre de Derecho en el Tecnológico de Monterrey en la ciudad de Monterrey. Jugador de futbol americano y ávido practicante de crossfit, André siempre se ha caracterizado por su nobleza de espírito y sabemos que pronto estará recuperado al 100% y podrá regresar a la normalidad después de una intensa recuperación.
