My name is Amit Rampersad, also known as Knightly. I'm starting this Gofundme for my best friend Andres Miguel, also known as Chaka. Back in April of this year, Andres was hospitalized due to some issues he had with his leg and liver. After coming back from the hospital he completely went sober from alcohol and started working on his health. He was doing so well for a little over 8 months and did not relapse once. On Saturday, December 17th. I was at an event and so was he. I received a phone call from him at 4 pm stating that he wasn't feeling well and threw up twice at his gig. He said he was going home to rest and then meet me 11 pm at the venue we Dj at. He never made it and I received a message from his sister Sunday, December 18th at 12:30am that he was in the ICU and not doing well. His liver had failed to cause him to have an esophagus rupture and started vomiting blood and internal bleeding. By the time I got to him Sunday afternoon. He was already unconscious on a breathing machine and having blood transfused into him as he was bleeding out constantly for 36 hours straight. I watched my brother bleed out and prayed for a miracle. Monday, December 19th. They went into an emergency surgery in which the doctors were able to stop the bleeding and placed him in an induced coma. They took him off the medicine used for the coma and he never woke up like he was supposed to. Instead, he started having seizures. His body began to weaken. His liver began to fail again and now followed by his kidneys. On Christmas day I received a call at 6:30 pm I received a call from one of his older brothers that he wasn't going to make it. His body has begun to shut down and he is too weak even for a transplant. It's only a matter of time before his heart gives out. I rushed to the hospital and they wouldn't let me in because it was past visiting hours. I got a call at 9:30 pm from his other older brother that it was confirmed he doesn't have long left and that he started bleeding out again causing him to be back on a blood transfusion. I went to bed waiting for the call that he didn't make it. Monday, December 26th I woke up and didn't have any calls. I checked in with his family and he was still going. He lasted the night. At 5:30 that afternoon. One of his brothers released a statement on his Instagram letting everyone know that Andres wasn't going to make it. I went to the hospital and saw him at about 5:45 pm. It was completely confirmed that we are waiting for his time now. We don't know what else to do. His parents are torn to pieces, especially his mother. He lived with them and helped take care of them including his latest nephew. I started this to help the family in their time of need with anything. They didn't ask but I would rather be prepared than not. My goal is to raise $20000 that may be needed to help support the family or cover any expenses as needed. He also has medical bills stacking up. I know they can use the help to make this whole process easier. I'm continuing to have hope and pray that he can still beat this even if the odds are off. Andres is an amazing person with not one bad bone in his body. He is an inspiring Dj and always could make anyone laugh. I'll continue to update as things go on. Anything helps! We appreciate your time and prayers. God bless!
