Andre's journey following his Double Lung Transplant.

Hello my son Andre Seawright is currently recovering from a Double Lung Transplant at UF Health Cardio Vascular Hospital Gainesville Florida. His lungs were damaged due an interstitial lung disease, it caused permanent scarring in his lungs which led to respiratory failure and although he was placed on a ventilator his lungs continued to deteriorate and that led to him being placed on ECMO which gave his body enough oxygen to survive until transplant. His heart has also suffered damage and had to be resuscitated multiple times . Currently he's in the discharge planning process and the expense of housing that requires us to live locally near the transplant center which is very costly. Also the fact that a care giver is required 24/7 makes everything a bit more costly . This is not a process that gets resolved in a few months , it's a life long process of continued care which is hours from home which adds more expenses , we travel at least 4 hours from home . Care can require unexpected trips back to transplant center. We are reaching out to those that may be able to help donate to help with this unexpected situation, some people have asked how to help and we felt this would be one of the easiest way to process donations .
