Andrea's Roof Replacement

My name is Andrea Little and I am a single-again 65 year old woman. I work as the Office Administrator at Skyline Presbyterian Church in Tacoma, WA. I have four grown children, ten grandchildren and two small dogs. 

Several years ago, at a time in my life when I thought things would start to get easier, I found myself having to start over... my marriage ended and a short time later so did my job. It took some time, but I have been able to get back on my feet. However, as I have a limited income, some things had to be set aside. One of those items is the roof of the manufactured home I purchased during this transitional time.

I have known for a while that I would "eventually" need to replace my roof. It wasn't until last December that "eventually" became NOW! I was sitting in my living room during a prolonged downpour listening to the constant sound of water drops hitting the buckets I had strategically placed throughout my house when I suddenly heard a loud crack and a large section of my ceiling came crashing down. I put out an SOS and friends and family showed up and tarped my roof. I was extremely grateful for the temporary fix.

The problem is that I don't have the funds or the credit to replace my roof and the mobile home park I live in does not allow tarped roofs. They have been understanding about my situation, but that kindness can only last so long. I am desperate to get my roof fixed so that I can continue to live in my home.

I have lined up a small crew of family and friends to work on the roof, and have a professional roofer available to act as the lead to make sure it gets done correctly. The cost needed is for the complete re-roofing, including replacement of the plywood on the roof and new gutters and downspouts. It is an extensive project. A project that I can not afford on my own, so I am reaching out to the greater community in hopes that together we can raise the monies needed for this project.
