Help Andrea Heal After a Stroke & Rebuild Her Life From the Ground Up
Story:
On Monday, March 28th, my friend suffered a medullary stroke—a serious and rare brainstem stroke that changed everything.
In an instant, she lost motor function on the right side of my body. can no longer walk, can’t speak clearly. Her dominant hand is unusable. The body shes always trusted—used to heal others through massage, somatic therapy, sacred intimacy work, and care—is now the one in need of help.
But the truth is, this stroke didn’t come in isolation. It came at the end of a brutal year of loss and trauma.
In February, she survived a sexual assault that required medical treatment, including CAT scans, and left me with visible bruising and internal damage. Shortly after, she entered protective custody to escape a covertly abusive marriage—leaving behind her home, belongings, and even her beloved dog, Mina.
Until this past Friday, she was preparing to finally be reunited with her—to bring home the pup who carried her through her darkest days. She was also meant to reclaim furniture and items that belonged to her before the marriage. Instead, suffered a stroke.
she will be in inpatient rehab for at least two months, followed by a long recovery that could take a year or more. Shes applied for disability, but those benefits take time. Meanwhile, the needs are urgent: medical equipment, mobility aids, housing, food, and continued therapy.
For now, she has no income and is asking for help—because this is too much for one woman to carry alone.
