Andrea's WeightLoss Journey

Hello, my name is Jacqueline Soria and I am a Middle School Physical Education Teacher in South Los Angeles. I recently took on this opportunity as a Camp Counselor for Camp Shane that will take place this Summer 2017. Camp Shane is a Weight Loss Camp that builds self-esteem and improves health through fitness and fun physical activities.
     My passion to promote health for life with my students carries on beyond my teaching passion. I am creating this GoFundMe Account to help one of my 7th grade students Andrea Chavez start her journey towards a healthy living. I have attached a link where Andrea introduces herself and shares her reasons why attending Camp Shane California is an opportunity that will contribute to her weight loss, but most importantly to loving herself.  Andrea has been a victim of bullying, degradation, disrespect, emberrassment, and ultimatly ridiculed by her peers. Throughout her life she has suffered from being bullied which has brought her to a low self-esteem, worthlessness and isolation. 
     The funds will pay for Andrea's room and board, food, cognitive behavioral therapy and health insurance for the 6 weeks she will be attending camp.  The funds required to pay for this life changing experience must be raised by May 31, 2017. I am reaching out to the Community, Family and Friends to help me make one of Andreas dream s come true. Your contributions will shine light to her life and I am confident this is the beginning of her journey. 
     As a Physical Education Teacher, it is my job to promote and educate my students on the benefits of living a healthy life style while having fun and developing cooperative skills, teamwork and sportsmanship. Bottom line, I want my students to be HAPPY. The first thing I thought of when I was hired to work at Camp Shane, was how I was going to convince Andrea's parents to accept her being away for 6 weeks. Their support and understanding  is admireable. They huged me and were greatly thankful with the mere thought of my actions. Being able to raise the funds needed to send Andrea to camp will be a blessing for me, and her family, but most importantly Andrea. It will continue to motivate me and find ways to continue to promote health.
