This fund is an action of love and support for our amazing mother Andrea. All who know Andrea have in some way been blessed by her self-less generosity, infectious spirit, and ability to make any terrible situation feel like but a speedbump in a full life. Well now she needs us ~ but of course in her true self-less self, she doesn't want to bother anyone. So my sister and I are here to ask for her.
As many of you know, Andrea has been in pain for a long time with her knee. Last November she finally got to the point where she could barely make in through a 4 hour workday, thus accepting the advice of doctors and scheduled knee surgery. Being the active, care-taking person she is, the idea of being bed-ridden for a few weeks was daunting - but she had to do it for herself. She made it seemlessly through the surgery and began to feel back to herself as Christmas approached, then all of a sudden the swelling and shooting pains came back. Turn's out she contracted a very rare staph infection during the surgery - and it was a big one. So big it landed her in the hospital where she had to have yet another surgery. She was sent home after a few days with a strong pickline of antibiotics and a hospice nurse - just when all of her clients thought she was going to be able to come back and keep them beautiful, she was down yet again - but this time 4-6 weeks. After a long, painful several weeks in bed she was finally cleared to have the pickline taken out - only to leave behind a considerable bloodclot causing arm and neck spasms. I'll spare the rest of the details, but now it's not just her leg that is recovering, her arm is severly messed up from the pickline and antibiotics. We can't help but wonder "when will it end!"
Andrea has now been out 2 months from work and counting. Since she is self-employed, and this whole thing has had one unexpected turn after another, it has become a larger financial burden then one ever could prepare for. My sister and I know their are many who love our mom, many who are more than willing to help her. It pains us more then ever to see our vibrant, giving, loving mother suffering the way she has been. That is why we took it upon ourselves to start this love fund. We do have the goal of covering their deductable, or at least putting a dent in it, but honestly any gestures of love and support towards our amazing mother would be so gratiously accepted. We know many of you have already taken time out of your day to check on her, bring dinners, make house calls (those of you who are Doc's), and more. And for this we are all so thankful. Hardships like this are so much easier to get through with your friends and family around to support you!
So let's rally the troops and bless Andrea with more love then she knew existed for her! We thank you all so much for taking the time to read this and allowing Ashley and I to humbley ask for help.
